Terra e Mani

POTTERY STUDIO IN ZURICH

Terra e Mani has been around since 2021. You can find us at Dachslernstrasse 61 in Zurich-Altstetten, centrally located and easily accessible by public transport (tram lines 2 and 20 or bus 31, Farbhof stop).

With passion and care, we create artistic ceramic objects and everyday items in our workshop. The world of ceramics is diverse and full of life. Every step opens up new possibilities, because the material surprises, challenges, and inspires us again and again. It is precisely this dynamic that makes pottery so fascinating for us, because it is a creative process that never stands still and allows us to constantly learn new things. We test boundaries, play with proportions, and develop glazes that reveal unexpected colors and structures during firing. The studio becomes a laboratory, the kiln a stage for transformation.

In our cozy studio, we also offer workplaces for potters. There are five pottery wheels and a spacious work table available, making it the perfect place to work on your own projects and bring new ideas to life.

We also offer trial courses and introductory courses on the potter's wheel and hand-building for all beginners who have long wanted to work with clay.

We are happy to open our doors for you to present our ceramics and our studio in person. Please drop by, and to ensure we don't miss each other, send us a quick message to let us know when you plan to visit. We look forward to seeing you!

For five years now pottery has accompanied me more than a craft a deep passion. What moved me from the start was the sensuality of the material raw clay soft and malleable a quiet invitation to encounter. Working with it is a dialogue between hand and form feeling and technique patience and intuition.

Initially I took a few hand-building courses curious and inquisitive with the desire to delve deeper. Eventually I answered this inner call and traveled to Tuscany for three intensive months to the renowned ceramics school La Meridiana. There surrounded by olive groves and Tuscan light I discovered the potter’s wheel.

And it was more than just a course. It was the moment when I knew This is my path. The quiet concentration the rhythmic turning the emergence of a vessel from a lump of earth all of it captured me completely.

Since then I have devoted myself wholeheartedly to this element and fulfilled a long-held dream building my own ceramics studio which Manuel and I have created together. A place where ideas take shape where hands learn to see and earth becomes art.

Until we opened our first studio in Zurich-Oerlikon, ceramics were entirely unfamiliar terrain to me. When Conny guided my hands for the first time at the wheel, an unexpected world unfolded before me, one that captivated me from the very first moment.

What fascinates me most about ceramics is the almost endless range of creative possibilities, as well as the intentionally slowed and mindful process of making each piece. My work is driven by curiosity and patience. I love exploring the boundaries of the materials and discovering unexpected beauty along the way. The alchemy of glazes, the interplay of colors and textures, and the continual search for new forms of expression all shape my artistic journey.

My current focus is on developing new crystalline glazes. Creating test series, mixing and trying out new recipes, and carefully documenting the results is a deeply meaningful and grounding part of my practice. Some developments take months – and it is precisely this slowness that allows a certain depth to emerge.
