Terra e Mani

POTTERY STUDIO IN ZURICH

Our studio Terra e Mani exists since October 2021 and is now located at Hermetschloostr. 73 in Zurich-Altstetten, easily accessible by public transport.

In this cosy place we create our works of art with our hands and the materials, earth, water, metals and rocks. We enjoy experimenting with shapes and making our own glazes. Here we plan our projects and can give free rein to our ideas and imagination.

Pottery covers an incredibly large and fascinating field of activity and we learn something new every time because the material is alive and that is what makes our work so exciting.

Our focus is especially on the production of luminous objects, the neriage technique, and screen printing on ceramics.

For several years, I have always been interested in pottery. I have also attended a few courses for hand building, but only ventured to the wheel briefly a few times.

Two years ago I finally decided to fulfill my big wish. I wanted to delve more into clay and turning on the potter's wheel and everything that goes with it. And if possible, to build up my own ceramics studio.

Therefore, at the beginning of 2021, I attended a three-month intensive turning course at the LaMeridiana Ceramics School in Tuscany. It was wonderful to work all day in the studio, hands smeared with clay, learning and seeing how the vessels were created and the glazes reacted.
It really got me and the fascination around the whole spectrum of clay and glazes has not let me go since.

When we set up our studio together in Oerlikon, my interest in pottery was also awakened at the same time.

After Conny taught me the first moves on the potter's wheel, I was immediately immersed in this wonderful world.

I am fascinated by the sheer infinity of possibilities of creative design, the alchemy of materials as well as the conceptual development of products.
