Description

This tall vase was created using the nerikomi technique, a traditional Japanese method of ceramic design. In this process, different types of clay or colored clay mixtures are combined and layered in such a way that the pattern forms directly within the clay. Unlike applied decoration, the pattern runs through the ceramic material and becomes visible during shaping and finishing.

The vase was constructed from slabs of black and white clay, and the repeating pattern was then carved into the surface by hand. This created a delicate relief with an irregular pattern. A gentle curve in the silhouette underscores the free-spirited nature of this handcrafted piece. Minor variations in pattern, texture, and shape are part of the manufacturing process and give the ceramic its unique character. The vase is glazed with a completely transparent glaze.

This combination of different techniques and methods gives the vase its own unique character.
